Police Auction Off Uninsured Cars

Posted on March 4th, 2011 No Comments

Police in Corpus, Christi, Texas have started a new program to help them lower the number of uninsured drivers on the road. They are now auctioning off forty vehicles that were towed and impounded because they were not insured.

This auction is coming after police have cracked down on uninsured motorists by towing vehicles without insurance that are involved in an accident, as well as randomly checking motorists for insurance.

An ordinance was passed in 2007 that allowed officers to tow cars that are uninsured.

Driving without insurance is illegal, and you could lose your vehicle. To learn more about auto insurance in your area, check out Purchase Auto Insurance Online today!

Posted on February 11th, 2011 No Comments

Recently, one main concern for drivers looking at purchasing a car or other motor vehicle is the vehicle’s gas mileage.  Having a car with a high gas mileage is better for the environment and will save you money and time at the gas pump.  Buying a car with a high gas mileage is not the only way to make sure you are saving money.  Other ways to save money on your car are by doings things to increase your car’s gas mileage or by spending less on your auto insurance.

One tip for boosting your vehicle’s gas mileage is to drive safely and cautiously.  Behaviors like speeding, reckless driving, revving the engine or sudden maneuvers all make your car use gas less efficiently and will lower your car’s gas mileage.  Another tip is to put your vehicle in cruise control when traveling on a road with the same speed limit for a long distance.  Using cruise control will prevent excessive and unnecessary braking and accelearating- both habits that will decrease gas mileage.  Lastly, keeping your vehicle properly maintained by having it routinely inspected will decrease the chances that your vehicle’s engine has a leak or is not functioning normally.
